Set Discrepancy Review

author=Max McGee
I agree combat can be frustrating, but this is your own darn misunderstanding of how probability works, not the game's fault. : P

I understand how probability works, but when a skill with a 42% chance of success fails 8 or more times in a row, something is very wrong. That is why whenever I have attempted to use percentage based skills/combat feats in my own custom systems, I've chewed up a bunch of extra variables tracking how many times they miss and forcing success if the skills perform less reliably than reported. I try to apply a revision of the golden rule to my attempts at game design: Do not do unto others what you would not want done to yourself.

Have you ever played Iron Gaia? Replace "crates" with "camera"

Honestly, when I had my crate difficulties, I had a line from one of the Iron Gaia reviews looping in my head - "The world's worst hacker fights with security cameras for three hours."

At least here, we're allowed to shoot the security cameras... provided your team isn't too freaked out or in a dark room at the time.

EDIT - It wouldn't be hard for Gibmaker to explain away any realism issues with the sedatives. All he has to do is throw a log in someplace where a medical officer extols the advent of sedatives that are designed for rapid elimination. Maybe they were designed to fight acute bouts of space psychosis, but with the aim of keeping the crew member functional instead of drugged into the floorboards.

OR - Sedatives could become a pro-active measure that would decrease the rate at which mental points deplete.

Olympic Avatars

Great, now I need to find a really unflattering pic of Kim Gordon in a wind tunnel to stay in avatar vogue...

or not.

I think I'll just stick with "Cyberspace Kim Gordon does not approve..."

Set Discrepancy review submitted.

And then there were four.

NaGaDeMo Review Drive

I tried the setup again, and it worked this time. I have it working now.

NaGaDeMo Review Drive

I have a review submission pending for Set Discrepancy. I was all set to give Eyes of the Forest a shot, but after the ridiculously slow download, the setup file kept crashing for some reason. Why do some people insist on not uploading a plain old zipped/rar'ed project folder?

Monster catching/training feasible?

I've never played a Pokemon game, but as I understand it, the setup is pretty similar to the Devil Summoning from the Shin Megami Tensei games. I have a game that uses a similar set-up. You are able to recruit enemies during combat once they are weakened, use them in your party, and get them to level up and gain new skills.

You might try my game out, if only to see that something like what you're shooting for is entirely possible.

Breach:Awakening

Feel free to dig around in my common events to see how I did the summoning and dismissing. This really only applies to Rpg Maker 2k3, but I can only imagine it would be even easier to accomplish in the more modern makers.

You might want to start off with some smaller projects to get a better feel for whatever maker you are going to be using.

In August and Everything After, you get a little less stats than you expected, somehow...

How did I get up to 126th in Makerscore? I mean, I know how, but damn, I didn't realize I gained so much last month.

CLOSAT - The Culmination - {DEADLINE IMMINENT!}

Strangely enough, the Challenge elements are coming together into a story easier than the normal ones... of course it is probably going to come off like an episode of Regular Show as written by a room full of inebriated penguins.

Bad Moments in Good Games?

The thing that makes the Fade part suck is that it kinda just comes out of nowhere and you're dragged into it, just when it seemed like you were almost done with the tower. It wouldn't have been so bad if you were given some notice.

I always used to pick Broken Circle as my first destination. I just saw it as a bunch of free exp for my party, and on subsequent re-plays came to consider it just an extension of character creation. Of course, after the mess I made of the boss fight with my first character, I always made damn a mage in the future parties would have Mana Clash ready for Uldred.

CLOSAT - The Culmination - {DEADLINE IMMINENT!}

I'd like to do the challenge, in addition to a story with the content you already sent me, if I can?
